Yes. It is about 9:30 (p.m. mind you) and I am barely managing to complete all of my homework before the overdosage of Tylenol settles in and I fall into some type of coma-like sleep, likely to occur in approximately an hour and a half.
So here is my blasted article of the week.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gDm7lRAjdXWzCH-GDsdZvbReCqCAD9308AVG0
Actually I felt some intense pity for the people of Haiti. Hurricane Hanna hit, ohhh, half a week or so ago. DEVASTATION, MY FRIEND! As a general statement, Hanna hovered over Haiti for about 4 days, dumping a load on the poor island. Tons of rain, mud is everywhere, trees are down, houses are flooded, there is no food, water, or shelter, 61 people are dead, and what are the U.N. troops doing?
Well let me relate one story in this article. The trucks, with the food and water and clothing that these people are in DIRE need of, met a bit of a gap in the road. Instead of finding any way to cross the gap or to even manage to get the supplies across the gap to the starving children, the trucks merely turned around. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time. =/
The audience would have to be those people with some sort of pity for people that have lost everything...and I mean everything, in this hurricane. Any person with sympathy of any kind can feel some sorrow for these people that have lost family, left their children orphans, and suffered a type of Hurricane Katrina..the devastatingly poorer version. This article brings out that human compassion hidden somewhere inside of me. It really got to me when one prolific man stated: "If they don't have food, it can be dangerous." Well, good call, sir. I suppose you're right. I never thought about it that way. It must be some type of trouble to go without FOOD OR WATER! Okay, if they are going to cover this story, shouldn't they at least quote people with some sense of what is going on. I mean, I knew nothing about this beforehand other than the fact that Haiti was in the path of Hanna. I really hadn't watched the news in too long. Oh except for Faux News at my sister's and considering they don't tend to tell us too much about the lives of lesser people (I'm kidding, don't attack) I was left somewhat unaware. But even I could have provided that much input in this article as the wise man who said that without food it could be dangerous. That almost makes me want to hit someone. Journalists these days. We need new ones.
But not focusing on what I was ignorant of, I am more interested in what I learned. Yes, friends, I learned. Learrrnnnneeeddd. One: 250,000 people have been affected. Did you read that? That many. My Jesus that's remarkable. 250,000 people left helpless...or near it.
Also: Okay, I get it. The trucks aren't going to make it. I don't think the air has blocking gaps in the middle though, with rivers running through. So can't we take a nice helicopter over the rifts and at least give them something?! Also intriguing: The local Roman Catholic Church has turned into some sort of a de facto refugee camp.
It makes me rather sad, really. People are just hangin' out on the pews all day. Some are just...standing around. A few women had some little Haitian babies in there. And what do they have? No way of getting supplies.
My question for pondering...
What on EARTH is keeping them from trying every possible tactic to get these people fed and taken care of? Orphans? ORPHANS?! I mean...come on. Help the little ones out.
Ah. It ticks me off.
So, that's my passionate rant on world-happenings. Adios, poppets.

i have something to say.
okay. sure. haiti is really gross. it's always been really gross. now it's even more gross because it's been torn apart by a hurricane.
people really didn't care about the nastiness before, and they probably aren't caring about the new level of nastiness now.
that it sad, my friends. very sad.
Poor Haiti, it may be gross, but who cares when people are dying. The main thing to focus on is saving lives- getting these people food and water pronto. The story about the truck was so sad, and it made me mad. I agree, why couldn't they deliver supplies in helicopters? What is being done here? To me it looks like nothing! Hurricanes are bad enough, and this one's even worse since Haiti is such a poor country. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I'm angry
On another note- I fixed conversing! Sorry. :]

hello. i will take time to read your very long post later. for now i just wanted to stop by and tell you that your picture is absolutely beautiful..:)
love
wowww i def can't write you a 10page letter like brittany did.
but i agree with lyndsay i doubt anyone will care now since they didn't b4.
andd i already told you, i love your picture!
I am definitely going to have to agree with Lyndsay on that one. Most people, at least in the U.N., just don't care about places like Haiti. So I doubt that it is much of a concern to the U.N. Which is probably the most inhumane thing I've ever heard. When people are dying, it doesn't matter who you are or who they are, something should be done.
Ally. I cannot believe you have actually departed from us. And without even saying goodbye to me. I will miss you so much. You were my best friend and I will never ever forget the memories we made together. I hope that someday I can be as great a person as you were. I have arranged to have you cremated since an open casket was not a option considering that your beautiful face was destroyed by that awful keyboard in web design. Lyndz and I have decided that the best way to pay respect to you would be to use your ashes as coffee creamer and enjoy one last cup of joe with you...or maybe I should say "cup of ally". I know that you can read this because you are Jesus. I will love you forever my sweet Savior!
I MISS YOU.
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BASH YOUR HEAD ON THE KEYBOARD?
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DRINK THAT COFFEE?
geeze. your funeral is on friday if you want to attend.
in spirit.
THEN ITS OFF TO STARBUCKS! WOOHOO. I like your ashes with a shot of espresso! :D
REST IN CHAOS MY SWEET LOVER!!!
Oh dear.
It seems I've died.
well when Brandi asked where you were today we had to break the news of your death to her. i thought that the least we could do would be invite her to your cremation cerimony. i hope did not mind. she was going to take part until i told her that it would be taking place at Starbucks in portsmouth and she freaked. she said that she would not be attending because the people at the one in ashland already know what she orders. selfish? only a lot. i love you, my beautiful corpse.
